Carrot Top has been hospitalized after reportedly attempting suicide in Las Vegas.
The comedian, whose real name is Scott Thompson, attempted suicide Friday in the Las Vegas area before being rushed to a local hospital, sources told TMZ.
The 61-year-old’s scheduled Friday night performance at the Luxor Hotel and Casino was canceled as a result.
“Mr. Thompson is recovering in the hospital and is receiving the care and support he needs,” his rep, Jami Schlicher, told the outlet.
“His family and those closest to him are deeply grateful for the concern, prayers and respectfully ask for privacy.”
Schlicher also confirmed Thompson’s hospitalization to theWrap but did not address the circumstances that led to it.
Schlicher did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
Thompson has been a fixture in Las Vegas for more than two decades, headlining his prop-comedy show at the Luxor since 2005.
The entertainer, known for his signature bright red hair and elaborate props, first rose to fame in the early 1990s with appearances on “Comic Strip Live” and “Star Search.”
He later appeared on several TV shows, including “Scrubs,” “George Lopez” and “Last Comic Standing,” and starred in the 1998 comedy “Chairman of the Board.”
Thompson also made a cameo as himself on the Max series “Hacks” in 2024.
Further details about his condition or the circumstances surrounding his hospitalization have not been released.
