For some, the difference between fashion and style comes down to finishing touches. Accessories, of course, play a big part in making an outfit your own. In recent weeks, the art of accessorizing took various forms on the streets of fashion capitals like New York, London, Paris, Milan, Florence and Copenhagen. But the people who did it well seemed to embrace the same approaches.

Sunglasses, for instance, skewed thinner in shape and colorful when it came to the tint of their lenses. Handbags also appeared to be slimmer, as did watches, highlighting an appeal for simple craftsmanship. Necklaces, on the other hand, generally had heft, whether from being worn in layers or from the various charms dangling from certain styles.
