PHOENIX — The National Weather Service (NWS) warned Arizonans as a dust and thunderstorm made its way through portions of metro Phoenix Wednesday evening.
Parts of Tempe as of around 10 p.m. received nearly an inch of rain. Western Mesa also received around the same level of rainfall. Chandler received 0.59 inches of rain.
More thunderstorms were expected to hit metro Phoenix, with flooding being the main concern, according to NWS.

Wind gusts of up to 60 mph were expected in some parts of the Valley, while NWS said pea-sized hail was also possible in some areas.
The dust storm warning was in effect until 9 p.m. for Interstate 10, Interstate 17 and the US-60 near Phoenix and Mesa.

In addition to the dust storm warning, a thunderstorm warning was issued for Mesa, Chandler and Gilbert until 9:15 p.m.

A flash flood warning was issued for Tempe and Guadalupe and remains in effect until 10:45 p.m.

NWS advised motorists to avoid driving through flood waters.
NWS said the chances of additional precipitation should increase, and temperatures should decrease throughout the rest of the week.
