The Social Security Administration announced a restructuring of its leadership team Wednesday as part of an effort to improve accountability and service, according to the agency.

Leadership changes include Chad Poist as chief of staff and chief risk officer, Karen Glenn as chief actuary, Nicholas Perrine as chief communications officer, Jay Ortis as acting chief of disability adjudication and Andy Sriubas as chief of field operations.

The Social Security Administration said it will restructure operations into three areas — Field Operations, Processing Center and Digital Service — to bring leadership closer to frontline services and improve efficiency. The agency also announced it is consolidating all security functions into one organization that will oversee information security, physical and protective security, and personnel security and suitability programs.

In a press release, SSA commissioner Frank J. Bisignano said the agency has recently reduced wait times on its national 800 number from 30 minutes to single digits, cut field office wait times by 30% and restored around-the-clock access to the Social Security online portal.

“I am proud of the leadership team we have at SSA. By combining the knowledge and experience of long-term career employees with new perspectives and talent of recent appointees, we are aligning our organization with today’s priorities and tomorrow’s opportunities,” Bisignano said in a statement. “I am confident their expertise and dedication position the agency to deliver a pristine control environment, optimal efficiency, and world-class service to the American people.”
