Summary

  • De Bethune unveils two new DB28xs timepieces ahead of Geneva Watch Days 2025
  • Both the DB28xs Kind of Blue Tourbillon and DB25xs Starry Varius feature smaller, more compact case sizes

Ahead of this year’s Geneva Watch Days, De Bethune has unveiled two compact reinterpretations of its flagship models, introducing the DB28xs Kind of Blue Tourbillon and DB25Vxs Starry Varius.

Now offered in a refined 40.6mm case size, the new DB25Vxs Starry Varius arrives in either mirror-polished titanium or warm 18k rose gold builds. Its dial is a poetic tableau of the night sky, where a reimagined Milky Way motif in volcanic-tone alloys dances against a starry backdrop.

Powered by the hand-wound DB2005 caliber, which is visible through a sapphire caseback, the movement incorporates the latest De Bethune technologies, including a balance-spring with a flat terminal curve, a silicon escape-wheel and a titanium and white gold balance-wheel. The titanium version retails for 65,000 CHF (approx. $80,000 USD), while the rose gold option is priced at 70,000 CHF (approx. $85,000 USD).

As for the DB28xs Kind of Blue Tourbillon, its celebrated ultra-light flying tourbillon is reimagined in the compact 38.7mm XS case for the first time. The model dons the Maison’s signature “cosmic” blue – achieved through meticulous thermal oxidation – across its bridges, balance wheel and dial plate. Each grade-5 titanium component is heat-treated to reveal deep blue hues, then finished with alternating polished, satin-brushed and micro-blasted surfaces that emphasize the watch’s sculptural architecture.

Driving the Kind of Blue is the DB2009v5 mechanical caliber, featuring a 30-second flying tourbillon at 6 o’clock, a five-day power reserve and a 22k gold winding micro-rotor. The model is priced at 190,000 CHF (approx. $225,000 USD). For full specifications and availability, visit De Bethune’s official website.
