Three men described by officials with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office as a vehicle theft crew were taken into custody earlier this week.

In a news release, the sheriff’s office said there was a spike in vehicle burglaries and thefts during August, particularly in Camarillo’s Village at the Park community.

At around 2 a.m. on Sept. 1, a VCSO detective who was on extra patrol spotted two dark-colored Infiniti sedans moving slowly through the neighborhood near Rancho Rosal Elementary School.

“The drivers briefly exited their vehicles, with one person seen carrying a crowbar and wearing a face mask,” the release noted. “Both then got back into one vehicle and left, leaving the other sedan abandoned.”

Coordinating with deputies assigned to the Camarillo patrol, a traffic stop was conducted.

Cristian Isidoro, 20, Adrian Horta, 18, and Randi Arevalo, 18, all residents of Oxnard, were arrested and are facing charges of conspiracy, possession of burglary tools and possession of stolen property.

Authorities also noted that Horta is currently on probation for assault and theft-related offenses.

The abandoned Infiniti was found to have a shattered passenger side window, with further investigation revealing the car had been stolen but not reported.

Detectives did not say whether they believe the alleged vehicle theft crew is connected to other similar incidents in the area.

“The Camarillo Police Station would like to remind its residents to please lock your vehicle doors, avoid leaving valuables inside, and report any suspicious activity to the police to help keep our community safe,” officials added.
