EXCLUSIVE: SkyShowtime is taking viewers back to the Homicide Department of the Warsaw Metropolitan Police for the first time in over a decade and has set launch plans for The Cop. A New Chapter (Glina. Nowy rozdział). The continuation of the show is much anticipated, 17-years after it was last on air.

The Cop. A New Chapter will launch on October 16 in over 20 territories on SkyShowtime, which is a JV between Comcast and Paramount, a Skydance Corporation. Deadline can reveal the launch date along with a visual from the show (see below). We also have word from the stars of the crime drama.

Time has moved on, but the Homicide Department continues to be busy in the new series. Joining the seasoned detectives Banaś (Maciej Stuhr) and Jóźwiak (Jacek Braciak) is a young, ambitious police officer, Tamara Rudnik (Nela Maciejewska).

Per the synopsis: “Right from the start, Rudnik is thrown into the heart of the brutal Warsaw underworld, where the lines between good and evil often blur dangerously. As each investigation raises more questions than answers, the officers must face not only ruthless criminals but also their own inner demons.”

Glina originally aired on Polish broadcaster TVP between 2004–2008, with eps from the original series now available to stream on SkyShowtime. The show is a co-production between TVP and Sky Showtime with Warsaw-based indie Apple Film producing. Maciej Maciejewski penned the script. The new show will debut on SkyShowtime and air on TVP in Poland at a later date.

Cast On Their New Chapter

“The key question for me while working on this new instalment was how Artur Banaś has changed over the years,” said Maciej Stuhr about returning to the series. “What happens to him in this continuation is very different from the past. His years in the police have left a deep mark.”

Jacek Braciak, spoke about his character Jóźwiak: “He’s solid, old-fashioned, with tried-and-true methods, though not exactly a genius. He’s likable in his toughness. He’s also a deeply family-oriented man, devoted to his loved ones, which – I imagine – isn’t easy when you work in homicide.”

New cast member Nela Maciejewska, playing Tamara Rudnik, added: “You could say I dreamed of this role. I always wanted to play a policewoman – a strong, determined woman who runs, shoots, and investigates.”
