The trip comes as US President and South Korean President Lee Jae Myung voiced their hopes for renewed talks with North Korea. so far while also working to increase its nuclear arsenal.

Who else will attend the military parade?

Apart from Kim and Russian President , two dozen other world leaders are set to join Chinese President to watch the military parade in commemoration of 80 years since the end of the Second World War and China’s fight with the Empire of Japan.

The parade would mark the first time Kim, Xi and Putin gather at the same venue, with all three being considered adversaries of the US.

Putin, who , could meet his North Korean counterpart in China, with such a meeting being “under consideration,” Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov told Russia’s TASS news agency.

Xi, Putin and Kim could possibly hold a trilateral meeting together while in Beijing to discuss their deepening ties.

How are North Korea’s ties with Russia and China?

North Korea has been actively supporting Russia’s war in Ukraine, both through its own soldiers and ammunition, in return for economic and military assistance by Moscow.

While Pyongyang’s relations with Beijing have deteriorated in recent years, experts say North Korean leader Kim hopes of changing course, with China being North Korea’s main backer.
