Kim Kardashian shares new health diagnosis, and its tragic link to her father’s death

Kim Kardashian revealed that she’s been diagnosed with esophagitis — a condition related to esophageal cancer, which her father died from in 2003.

The reality TV icon, 45, made the stunning confession in the Season 8 trailer for “The Kardashians”which dropped on Friday.

From what appears to be an MUA chair, Kim says, “I have something called esophagitis,” as stylists comb out her hair.

The Skims founder is then seen in a hospital gown reclining in a hospital bed, as someone offscreen says, “Didn’t your father… isn’t that what he died of?” to which Kim replies, “yeah.”

Family matriarch Kris Jenner, 70, is then seen in an emotional confessional, saying, “I can’t…it makes me want to cry.”

Though Kim’s father, attorney Robert Kardashian, died of esophageal cancer at the age of 59 — with the famed patriarch succumbing just eight weeks after his diagnosis — the overall risk of developing cancer stemming from the condition is low.

According to the Mayo Clinic, most cases of esophageal cancer “are not clearly linked to a gene passed down in families.”

The famous family memorialized the late attorney by announcing a UCLA health center in his honor back in 2019, with Kim sharing the news via social media.

“So proud to announce the Robert G. Kardashian center for esophageal health being launched at UCLA,” Kim shared via X at the time, alongside a photo of the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

“My wish is that other families can have more information and we can also focus on health and prevention.”

Kim’s diagnosis comes a year after she divulged during last season’s premiere of “The Kardashians” that doctors had discovered a “little” brain aneurysm during an MRI scan.

Doctors told her aneurysms can be caused by “stress,” and the designer wondered aloud “why the f–k” it had happened.

At the time, Kim reflected on the stress caused by her volatile divorce from Kanye West — with whom she shares four children — which she settled with the rapper in 2022.

The aspiring lawyer updated fans during a subsequent appearance on “Good Morning America” last October, saying she ended up “getting tons of other brain scans at Cedars-Sinai [Medical Center] with all the team.”

She added, “everything works out.”
