A 37-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a collision in Long Beach on Saturday night, and the driver of an SUV was arrested on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter, authorities said.
The crash happened around 9:01 p.m. on Aug. 30 at 11th Street and Redondo Avenue, according to Long Beach Police. Investigators said a 2010 KTM motorcycle was heading south on Redondo when it collided with a 2006 Toyota Sequoia traveling east on 11th Street, at the intersection with Redondo.
Long Beach Fire crews responded, but the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Despite initial reports from Long Beach Fire identifying the rider as female, police later confirmed the victim as Roberto Barraza, 37, of Long Beach.
Police said impairment is being investigated as a possible factor. The Sequoia’s driver, identified as Frank Andrade Jr., 33, of Long Beach, remained at the scene and cooperated with officers. He was arrested and booked on suspicion of driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter, with bail set at $101,781.
