- The design emphasizes a gentle flow and warm lighting to create a tranquil, nature-infused atmosphere
South Korean interior, spatial and branding firm, STUDIO GIMGEOSIL , was tasked with the design for Palo Verde Aesthetic — a beauty clinic nestled in Seoul’s Seodaemun-gu district. Described by the studio as a “Sanctuary of Natural Elegance,” the space draws inspiration from the Palo verde tree, translating its symbolism of growth and renewal in the 80 square-meter clinic.
Under lead architect YongChul Kim, the design channels resilience and vitality by weaving a palette of soft greens, sandy neutrals and warm timber throughout the space. Each material choice, from troweled plaster walls to honed limestone flooring, echoes the tree’s bark and foliage, thus grounding visitors in a calming, nature-infused atmosphere.
Spatially, the layout unfolds in a gentle procession: a welcoming reception alcove gives way to secluded treatment rooms and a serene lounge area. Curved partitions and recessed niches guide movement while preserving privacy. In addition to that, built-in benches and storage units maintain a clean, uncluttered aesthetic. Thoughtful architectural gestures such as a skylit central corridor and a living green wall introduce daylight and botanical accents, further reinforcing the connection between interior and nature.
Lighting plays an essential role in the clinic’s ambience. Soft, diffused LEDs concealed within ceiling coves wash the space in an even, warm glow, while adjustable spotlights highlight key features such as bespoke wood shelving and a sculptural stone washbasin. Furniture and fixtures – meticulously selected for their organic forms and tactile finishes – complete the space, resulting in an elegantly restrained environment where visitors can unwind and rejuvenate amid subtle echoes of the desert landscape.
