President Donald Trump took to his Truth Social platform on Friday to brag about his polling numbers.
“TRUMP Approval Rating in the Republican Party is now 95%, A RECORD. Second place is Ronald Reagan at 86%.”
It is unclear what survey he is referring to, specifically.
Surveys of the broader electorate suggest Trump is near one of his all-time lows, with a recent Reuters/Ipsos poll showing just 35 percent approval — which was a slight increase from their previous survey.
Trump was referring specifically to his approval among Republicans, not the electorate at large, but some recent polls even suggest he is losing ground with Republicans as well.
To bolster his party’s prospects of holding majorities in Congress, Trump pushed his party into a midterm convention in Dallas, where he promised voters $5,000 checks for every adult if Republicans retain control. New polls show even this idea is viewed negatively.
