HUNTSVILLE, Ala (WHNT) — It takes a lot of hard work from dozens of people, both in front of the camera and behind the scenes, to make WHNT what it is every day.
We took time to celebrate our amazing staff during employee appreciation week, and started the week with a visit from the beloved local celebrity: Sprocket! He may have made an on-air appearance with Lauren Layton as well!
Tuesday, we relaxed with some “animal zen.” Shoutout to the Greater Huntsville Humane Society for bringing a few adorable puppies by the station. These sweet four-legged friends will be up for adoption soon if anyone wants to offer them a forever home!
We also had Mozza pizza for lunch on Tuesday, and as our election night meal, to make sure all of our hardworking staff were fed!
On Wednesday, our off-camera folks got to come to work comfy as we had a movie day with popcorn, candy, and some cinematic masterpieces.
Later in the week, we had some friendly competition over musical jeopardy. Investigative reporter Dallas Parker for the win!
Finally, on Friday, we capped off the week with a field day with a cookout with our grillmaster, employee Shane Hays.
The cherry on top was ice cream from our friends at Handel’s. Their new flavor- “knot your average dough” was a hit! It’s a creamy cookie dough ice cream with chunks of real cookie dough mixed with salty pretzels! This summer marks 80 years of Handel’s ice cream! We want to say thank you so much to their team for supplying us with a sweet treat!
Lastly, a big thank you to the talented Bobby Diamond with Balloonmasterz who wowed us with his balloon art talent. He made just about anything we could dream of. Our newsroom is filled with balloon art now!
We are ending all the celebration with a WHNT employee get-together at the Trash Pandas game on Sunday. So if you see us, come say hi!
