These parties involved drugs, alcohol, and transactional sex, where young girls were exploited for the entertainment of older men.
Verónica, it is revealed, was somewhat complicit—convincing Marta to go with her, believing it was “fun” and lucrative. Marta, however, was more reluctant. Her discomfort sets the stage for the tragedy that would ultimately claim her life.
The torture and death of Carlos Jaén
Carlos Jaén becomes a central figure once the truth about the parties surfaces. Beltrán, a piano student connected to Verónica, exposes Jaén’s involvement in the sexual exploitation ring. Later, Rafael Salazar (Hovik Keuchkerian)—Marta’s father, a man rumored to have ties to organized crime—hunts Jaén down.
In one of the most brutal sequences, Jaén is captured, chained, interrogated, and finally killed by being crushed under a car. His death represents not only vengeance for Marta but also the silencing of someone who could have fully exposed the network of abuse.
Verónica is alive
For most of the series, Verónica is presumed dead. Marta’s body is found in the sea, but Verónica remains missing. Her grandmother Isabel (Kiti Mánver) refuses to give up the search, while her father Antonio insists she must be dead.
The truth, however, comes out late in the story: Verónica is alive. Antonio had secretly helped her flee Spain after Marta’s death, first to Morocco and later with plans to escape to Brazil. He maintained contact with her every Friday, while letting the rest of the world believe she was gone forever.
When Isabel finally discovers Verónica alive, she finds her living with Jamila Abdallah, the mysterious “third girl” who was also present the night Marta died. Verónica and Jamila are now lovers, trying to rebuild their lives far from the traumatic past.
Verónica accidentally killed Marta and her father helped her to hide it
The ultimate twist is that Marta was not murdered by Jaén directly, but by accident during a fight with Verónica.
After witnessing Jaén assault Marta, Verónica tried to intervene. Marta, traumatized and desperate, threatened to take her own life with a shard of glass. In the struggle to stop her, Verónica was cut on the neck. Panicked, she shoved Marta away—causing her to fall and hit her head fatally on a stone bench.
When Verónica confessed this to her father Antonio, he decided to protect her at all costs. He disposed of Marta’s body at sea and orchestrated Verónica’s escape abroad, making her a fugitive rather than facing the law. This cover-up is the dark secret that poisoned the family for years.
The death of Isabel and Rafael Salazar
The ending culminates in tragedy for the older generation. Isabel, after uncovering the truth, confronts Rafael Salazar (Álvaro Morte), telling him everything that happened. In a final act of despair, Isabel drives her car off a cliff and into the sea with Rafael inside, killing them both. This symbolic double death mirrors the show’s title Two Graves, suggesting that revenge, lies, and obsession ultimately consume not only the guilty but also those who can’t let go of their grief.
The series closes without revealing what happens next to Verónica and Jamila. Do they keep running, or does Antonio reunite with his daughter? The ambiguity leaves the story unresolved—while some secrets are buried, they always haunt the living.
