Former Colorado Buffaloes safety Shilo Sanders was not selected in the 2025 NFL draft, although he was able to sign a deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent.

However, Sanders’ time with the franchise came to an end as he was waived with the rosters being trimmed to 53 players.

Sanders was ejected from the final preseason game against the Buffalo Bills after he threw a punch and hit Bills tight end Zach Davidson.

Sanders then cleared waivers and is searching for his next opportunity wherever it may be.

On Thursday night, he posted a video to his YouTube channel thanking the Buccaneers organization and his fans.

“As you can see by the title of this video, I got waived by the Buccaneers,” Sanders stated. “Regardless of anything that’s ever happened to me, I always came out on top.”

“My time being up here with the Buccaneers has been nothing but great. The city, my teammates, my coaches, everybody’s always poured in love and support towards me, and I’ll forever be grateful for that,” Sanders added.

“I had the best time up here in Tampa.”

Sanders continued by saying he has talked to his agent and they are “waiting on the next opportunity,” while also leaving his future in football up in the air.

“If that’s the NFL, cool, but God’s blessed me with a lot of talents to do other things other than play football,” Sanders added. “I feel like in every athlete’s life, it becomes a point where the game ends for you. And I’m not saying that’s what it is now…Basically, every athlete comes to this point where you find yourself without the game of football.”

Sanders went on to thank his family and friends for the support since joining the Buccaneers while expressing gratitude for the opportunity.

“I appreciate all the love and support,” Sanders added. “Especially thank you to the Buccaneers for giving me this opportunity.”

The future remains up in the air for Sanders, although the Toronto Argonauts from the Canadian Football League acquired his negotiating rights. The Argonauts also acquired Shedeur Sanders’ rights in July, so there is a chance he heads to Canada depending on how things turn out.

For now, Shilo Sanders is nothing but grateful for his time in Tampa Bay, and with Week 1 around the corner, it will be interesting to see if an NFL team brings him on board.
