It’s a pop-culture collaboration that has been over three decades in the making.

West Coast rap legend Ice Cube is celebrating his first tour in over a decade by partnering with Goodyear. This comes as the brand’s blimp is celebrating its 100th anniversary.

In 1993, Ice Cube, whose real name is O’Shea Jackson, released the song “It Was a Good Day.” One of the famous lyrics from the song is when Cube said he “even saw the lights of the Goodyear Blimp and it read ‘Ice Cube’s a pimp.’”

Thirty-two years later, that manifestation came to fruition. On Aug. 24, the partnership was announced with the blimp displaying that message. It happened in Orlando, Florida, at the BIG3 Championship, the three-on-three basketball league founded by the “Boyz n the Hood” actor.

“From the beginning, I always thought you had to dream big if you really wanted to make it big. The idea of the Goodyear Blimp championing my name was a metaphor for the sky being the limit, yet here we are with Goodyear as a partner and the blimp flying in the Orlando skies, saying, ‘Ice Cube’s a Pimp!’,” said Ice Cube. “I’m honored to have Goodyear sponsoring my Truth to Power tour, where we will take people through a musical journey over my four-decade career.”

Starting in September, the blimp will be overhead select venues of Ice Cube’s Truth to Power: 4 Decades of Attitude Tour. Fans in Denver, Colorado, San Diego, Los Angeles and Ohio will be able to spot the famous message.

“When Ice Cube referenced the Goodyear Blimp in his iconic song, it became part of music history and made a cultural impact,” said Doug Grassian, vice president of global external communications, social media and partnerships at Goodyear. “Aligning together for his upcoming tour feels like we are bringing that lyric to life, both literally and figuratively, for fans across generations.”

The “Check Yo Self” rapper’s tour kicks off on Sept. 16 in Denver and makes its way to Los Angeles’ Crypto.Com Arena on Sept. 28. It wraps up on Oct. 17 at the Toyota Center in Houston.
