DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — A Wiregrass native and former Dothan beauty queen accused of plotting to kill her husband while on vacation in the Bahamas will not go to trial until next year.
Lindsay Shiver will go to trial in the Bahamian capital of Nassau on March 2, 2026. She will stand trial beside her alleged co-conspirators, Terrence Bethel and Faron Newbold Jr.
Shiver was set to go before a judge and jury on August 29, 2025, but the trial was postponed. This is the fourth time Shiver’s trial has been delayed. It is currently unknown why the trial has been pushed again.
Shiver is currently out on bond and is staying with her family in the Wiregrass. She is allowed to travel to Georgia to visit her children.
Shiver, Bethel, and Newbold Jr. were arrested in July 2023 after investigators said they were connected to an alleged murder-for-hire plot targeting Shiver’s husband, Robert.
All three posted bond after their arrests. However, after being out of prison for over a year, Shiver and Bethel had their bonds revoked and were re-arrested in late October 2024 after a judge claimed the two violated the condition of the Bahamas’ restrictions on pre-trial publicity by appearing on Good Morning America and Inside Edition in early October.
Shiver and Bethel were later granted a second chance at freedom when a judge reinstated their bail just a few months later.
In the GMA segment aired on WDHN, only Bethel spoke on the record about the pending case, firmly proclaiming his and Shiver’s innocence and claiming the case had been blown out of proportion.
Shiver, Bethel, and Newbold Jr. were arrested after police in the Bahamas claimed they found messages on WhatsApp between Bethel and Shiver, which allegedly included photos of Shiver’s husband, Robert, along with the message “Kill him.”
The messages between the two were discovered while authorities investigated a break-in at a bar on Guana. Police claim they came across the messages on the social media app while searching the phone of one of the break-in suspects.
