Browns Insider Suggests Raiders as Potential QB Trade Partner

The Cleveland Browns are going to be a team to watch when it comes to the quarterback position. Right now, they hold four quarterbacks on the roster and many expect them to head into the 2025 NFL season with all of them on the 53-man roster.

Joe Flacco will be the team’s starter to open up the season. Behind him, Kenny Pickett is expected to be the primary backup with Dillon Gabriel at No. 3 and Shedeur Sanders at No. 4 on the depth chart.

While Pickett is expected to be the backup behind Flacco, plenty of trade rumors have been swirling with his name attached.

That suggestion has been made once again. This time, it was from ESPN Cleveland radio personality Tony Grossi.

In response to the news that the Las Vegas Raiders are looking for a veteran backup quarterback behind Geno Smith following the Aidan O’Connell injury, Grossi clearly suggested that the Browns could be a trade partner.

Who would the quarterback be heading out of Cleveland? Grossi has made that clear in another publicly shared opinion.

Grossi has suggested that Pickett should be the quarterback traded by the Browns. He also believes that the team should cut Sanders and sign him to the practice squad.

Pickett would fit the description of what the Raiders are looking for to back up Smith. He would be a much more dependable option than many of the other quarterbacks that Las Vegas could target.

Obviously, the big question with this idea is whether or not Cleveland would want to deal Pickett. Do the Browns feel comfortable with either Gabriel or Sanders being just one snap away from being sent out on the field? If Flacco were to go down with an injury, those two rookies would be their backups.

Should the answer be yes and Cleveland was comfortable trading Pickett, this would make a ton of sense for both teams.

Only time will tell, but the Browns have a surplus of quarterbacks. With the Raiders needing one, it would not be surprising to see them place a call to Cleveland to check in.
