Milwaukee Bucks Connected to Big Trade With Boston Celtics

The Milwaukee Bucks have fallen far from their days as one of the NBA‘s titans. Three straight first-round playoff exits have taken a whole lot of the shine off the Bucks following their 2021 championship victory, and now, they are in flux.

However, Milwaukee added Myles Turner in free agency, giving the Bucks a rather fearsome defensive duo along with Giannis Antetokounmpo. And apparently, they are also interested in adding another offensive piece.

Sam Amico of Hoopswire has reported that Milwaukee may be planning to make a run at Boston Celtics guard Anfernee Simons, who has been on the trade block ever since the Celtics acquired him in a deal that sent Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers back in June.

The Bucks could definitely use some more scoring punch in their backcourt after losing Damian Lillard, so the idea of pursuing Simons definitely makes sense.

Simons averaged 19.3 points, 4.8 assists and 2.7 rebounds over 32.7 minutes per game on 42.6/36.3/90.2 splits last season. He also registered back-to-back campaigns in which he logged over 20 points per game in 2022-23 and 2023-24, topping out at 22.6 points per game in the latter season.

The 25-year-old has one year remaining on his contract and is slated to earn $27.7 million this coming season. Boston is still trying to shed salary, so the C’s are actively searching for a trade partner to facilitate a deal.

Amico adds that the Celtics aren’t necessarily 100 percent moving Simons and could opt to keep the former first-round pick to see if he could be a part of their future. However, if Boston can find a suitable trade, you have to figure that Simons will be on the move before the start of the 2025-26 campaign.

The Bucks went 48-34 last season, marking their worst winning percentage since 2017-18 campaign when they won 44 games and fell to the Celtics in the first round of the playoffs.
