After Austin Dillon’s win at Richmond last weekend, 14 of the 16 playoff spots have been decided. If one of those 14 previous winners takes the checkered flag on Saturday night, it will lock Tyler Reddick and Alex Bowman into the playoffs.
But if someone else wins, things get stickier. Reddick would just need to finish ninth to lock in a playoff spot, but Daytona is a high-speed, pack-racing track where one wrong move can change the entire picture of the race, so Bowman has a viable shot in this scenario.
Last year, Harrison Burton shocked the NASCAR world by winning this race to punch his playoff ticket despite being one of the lowest drivers in the overall point standings. Could he do it again?
One team to keep an eye on is RFK Racing, which has had a solid season, especially from Chris Buescher and Ryan Preece. But with no wins yet, RFK is currently shut out of the playoff picture. Could one of the team’s three drivers make it to Victory Lane on Saturday to steal a playoff bid?
