As Bobby Berk enters the next phase of his onscreen design career, he wishes no shade to the Fab Five.

The Queer Eye alum, who exited the series back in 2023, recently clarified that he did not intend to announce his new HGTV series the day after Deadline reported that Netflix is renewing the reboot of the LGBTQ makeover show for a 10th and final season.

“I have to say, I swear on my mother’s life, my show announcement date was set,” Berk told People. “No, this was planned. Show announcements don’t happen on a whim.”

Last month, HGTV greenlit Junk or Jackpot? from Berk and John Cena, following collectors as they discover the true monetary value of their massive and unusual collections. Berk will help homeowners decide whether to sell some of their items to pay for a much-needed home renovation .

“Even Karamo [Brown] was like, ‘Girl, the day after?’ I’m like, ‘No, no, no. I promise you it was already planned,’” said Berk. “Some people were like, ‘Couldn’t you have waited?’ And I’m like, ‘Well, yes, but no.’”

Berk added, “I mean, [Netflix] could have easily given me a heads-up on when that was going to be announced. I mean, I was on the show for [eight] seasons, but yeah, it’s fine.”

Following its original 2003-’07 run on Bravo, Netflix’s Queer Eye reboot debuted in 2018, featuring Berk as the show’s interior design and home organization expert, Brown on culture and lifestyle, Jonathan Van Ness on grooming, Tan France on fashion and Antoni Porowski on food and wine.

After Berk left the show, Jeremiah Brent joined the Fab Five with last year’s Season 9 to fill the interior design void.
