A city council meeting was interrupted when Philadelphia City Hall evacuated after officials found a suspicious package on Thursday, according to multiple reports.
LiveNOW from Fox and the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that the bomb squad responded to the scene and over 2,500 employees were forced to leave the facility.
“We are currently being evacuated from Philadelphia City Hall. Happened during City Council meeting. Chambers is being evacuated. Possibly a suspicious package has been found,” Fox29’s Chris O’Connell reported on X.
A spokesperson for the mayor’s office confirmed the evacuation to CBS News. A K-9 unit reportedly discovered the suspicious package.
Authorities cleared the scene by early afternoon.
