The Chicago Bears are one of the most intriguing teams in the NFL heading into next season, but they definitely have some holes that could still afford to be patched.
One perfect example is the pass rush, which totaled a pedestrian 40 sacks last season. Montez Sweat was the Bears’ top sack-getter, finishing with just 5.5. Chicago did select Shemar Turner in the second round of the NFL Draft, but otherwise, the Bears could definitely stand to add some help at edge rusher.

Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay has proposed a solution for Chicago, suggesting that the Bears swing a trade to acquire Kayvon Thibodeaux from the New York Giants. More specifically, Kay has Chicago sending third and fifth-round draft picks to the Giants in exchange for the youngster.
“The Bears fit the bill as a team that would be willing to give up several selections for the edge-rusher,” Kay wrote. “While Chicago loaded up this offseason to make a playoff push, the team still lacks strong pass-rushers. Getting Thibodeaux in the mix would elevate the Bears’ defense significantly.”
Thibodeaux played in 12 games last season, registering 28 tackles and 5.5 sacks in what was a rather disappointing campaign. However, he is two seasons removed from racking up 50 tackles, 11.5 sacks and three forced fumbles.
The University of Oregon product was a force in college, amassing a grand total of 19 sacks over three seasons with the Ducks. He was then selected by the Giants with the fifth overall pick of the NFL Draft.

So, would he be available for the Bears? Potentially, considering New York acquired Brian Burns last offseason and just drafted Abdul Carter with the No. 3 overall pick of the draft this past April.
Chicago is knocking on the door in the NFC, and bringing in Thibodeaux would definitely elevate its chances of making some serious noise.
