The Cleveland Browns have five quarterbacks on their roster. Both Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders were selected during the 2025 NFL Draft and the team is hoping that one of them can become their long-term signal caller of the future.

Sanders has become one of the most talked about players in the NFL. His dad being the legendary Deion Sanders has a lot to do with it, but he has built his own brand as a quarterback.

While Joe Flacco is going to be the Browns’ Week 1 starter, both Gabriel and Sanders will be competing to take that job away from him throughout the year.

Recently, Gabriel made some head-turning comments. He made the start in the team’s second preseason game, and made a very notable comment in a sideline interview after he had been pulled from the game in favor of Tyler Huntley.

“You know, there’s entertainers and there’s competitors, and I totally understand that. But my job is to compete. And that’s what I’m focused on doing,” Gabriel said.

Fans have been waiting to see what Sanders would have to say about those comments. Now, his comments have been made.

“Honestly, I don’t even think about anything. Words or anything, you know at this point, can’t do anything to me,” Sanders said. “I know that God put the ability and power within me to not even think about nobody else’s comments and not care. It is what it is. I spoke with him. He told me on the plane. He came up to me and was like, ‘Nah, bro, that wasn’t at you. I see how they trying to spin it.’ I’m not gonna lie, I’m not tripping, regardless of whatever it was. Nobody’s words or anything affects me.”

That wasn’t all that Sanders had to say. He continued on, making it clear that the comments wouldn’t impact him one way or the other.

“Um, do I feel like he did? I don’t know. And that’s not on me to sit here and be like, ‘Oh, he did it,’” Sanders said. “That’s not going to change my life in any way.”

It has been a long time since Cleveland had a legitimate quarterback in place. Either one of the rookies stepping up into a long-term starting role would be a win.

With the comments being made, Sanders and Gabriel are set to keep competing. The Browns will have some tough decisions to make, but neither rookie signal caller is going to back down.
