A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a series of four sexual assaults in San Pedro this past weekend.
Between Saturday and Monday, four women and girls between the age of 13 and 42 were grabbed or restrained while walking on the sidewalk or inside a store, the Los Angeles Police Department said in a news release.
In one attack on Monday that occurred near 6th Street and Pacific Avenue, “the suspect approached [a victim] from behind, restrained her, and sexually assaulted her,” police said.
“The victim, with the help of other community members, tracked the suspect to a nearby apartment complex on 8th Street,” the release said. “LAPD Harbor Division patrol officers and detectives quickly located the suspect at his residence in this complex and arrested him.”
David Ramirez was booked for felony sexual battery. The LAPD said he’s being held without bail, though jail records indicate he’s being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
“Detectives continue to investigate the other crimes and believe the suspect may have assaulted more women in the area,” police said.
