Week 3 of the NFL preseason gets underway on Thursday night with Steelers vs. Panthers at 7 p.m. (all times EDT) and Patriots vs. Giants at 8 p.m.
Carolina has been one of the worst preseason teams through two weeks, losing to Cleveland and Houston by a combined score of 50-13. Pittsburgh has played two close games, beating Jacksonville 31-25 and losing 17-14 to Tampa Bay.
Tonight’s late game showcases a Giants team that has piled up the points in a 34-25 win over the Bills followed by a 31-12 beatdown of the Jets.
New York’s opponent tonight, Mike Vrabel’s Patriots, have also been impressive, beating Washington 48-18 in their opener and Minnesota 20-12 last Saturday.

The Panthers struggled in the 2023 and 2024 preseasons, and this year has been no different so far. Bryce Young did lead a touchdown drive in the opener against Cleveland, but that’s been one of the few bright spots for Carolina.
Tonight’s game will feature a heavy dose of second- and third-stringers, and based on the struggles of the Panthers’ reserves the last two weeks, the smart move is probably to take the Steelers to cover as heavy road favorites.

Betting on the Giants so far this postseason has been profitable, and it should be again tonight, even if we only see Jaxson Dart and not Russell Wilson or Jameis Winston.
The rookie from Ole Miss was 12-for-19 for 154 yards and 1 touchdown vs. the Bills, and he was even better against the Jets last weekend, completing 14-of-16 passes for 137 yards and 1 TD.
It might be risky to take the Giants to cover as 6.5-point favorites, but they strike me as a safe bet to take care of business in the first half.
