Sekiro: No Defeat was announced at Gamescom 2025’s Opening Night Live as a fully hand-drawn anime adaptation of FromSoftware Inc.’s award-winning game, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
Staying true to the game’s core themes, Sekiro: No Defeat reimagines the Sengoku-era setting through a cinematic lens. Every frame is crafted to echo the original’s intensity, transforming its tale of loyalty, vengeance and supernatural intrigue into an immersive visual narrative.
Directing the adaptation is Kenichi Kutsuna — renowned for his key animation work on Naruto: Shippuden, Bleach and Satoshi Kon’s Paranoia Agent. He is joined by screenwriter Takuya Satou (Fate/stay night) and character designer Takahiro Kishida (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind), alongside a team of veterans for the production.
Produced by Kadokawa, Qzil.la, and ARCH, the series is slated to premiere on Crunchyroll in 2026, with exclusive streaming rights covering every territory except Japan, China, Korea, Russia and Belarus.
