A woman was arrested for attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a man in Ventura County.
On Aug. 19, deputies from the Fillmore Station responded to the 600 block of Ventura Street in Fillmore shortly after 12 p.m.
Authorities found the victim, a 36-year-old man, suffering from a stab wound. He was transported to the hospital for treatment. The suspect had fled the scene before deputies arrived.
Investigators later identified Patsy Escoto, 35, of Fillmore, as the primary suspect. They discovered Escoto had boarded a bus that was headed towards the Santa Paula area.
“By the time resources arrived in Santa Paula, she had exited the bus and fled on foot,” officials said. “A search of the area was conducted, but law enforcement was unable to locate Escoto.”
Shortly before 5 p.m., Escoto had boarded another bus in Santa Paula that was headed to Ventura.
Coordinated efforts from several law enforcement agencies were able to track the woman down and she was taken into custody as she exited the bus near the Government Center building in Ventura.
Authorities noted that Escoto had a “violent criminal history and is currently on probation.”
Escoto was arrested for attempted murder, along with her felony and misdemeanor warrants. She was taken to the Pre-Trial Detention Facility where she was booked pending court proceedings.
Further details, including the motive behind the stabbing and how the suspect and victim were known to each other, were not released.
“The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank members of the public for their ongoing support and due diligence in providing information to assist our agency in solving crimes,” officials said.
