With just one preseason game remaining before the start of the 2025 NFL season, the Cleveland Browns have some tough roster decisions to make.
At the quarterback position, there are some tough calls for Andrew Berry and the front office. Do they keep all four quarterbacks on the roster? Deshaun Watson is staying in town as well due to the large contract the team gave him.
Having five quarterbacks is not an ideal scenario. Keeping four is also not common.
Joe Flacco will be the Browns’ starting quarterback in Week 1. Behind him, the team has Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel, and Shedeur Sanders.

Could Cleveland consider moving on from one of those players?
Pickett has been a name floated as potentially being the odd man out. Moving on from one of the rookies doesn’t seem like a wise choice for the Browns.
With that being said, a new update has been revealed about Pickett’s potential future in Cleveland.
NFL insider Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated has weighed in with what he thinks will happen. He believes the Browns will keep all four quarterbacks on the roster, although Pickett could potentially be available for the right price.
“I don’t know if there’s going to be a market for him trade-wise. My guess is he stays on as the backup. I think they’ll keep all four quarterbacks. After all the hoopla and everything else, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders are inactive in Week 1—but who knows? If someone came through with a representative offer for them, they would definitely listen,” Breer said.
Since being drafted with the No. 20 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pickett hasn’t been able to put it all together. He has shown flashes of starting potential, but those flashes haven’t turned into consistency.

Throughout his 30-game career thus far, the 27-year-old signal caller has thrown for 4,765 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions, while completing 62.4 percent of his passes.
Right now, it seems that he could very well end up making the roster in Cleveland. However, if a team comes calling with an aggressive offer, the Browns might be interested enough to consider pulling the trigger on a Pickett trade.
