Amanda Knox’s 4-year-old daughter has started asking why mommy spent time in jail.
“I try to tell it in a way that she will understand,” the author and activist told Page Six exclusively at the premiere of “The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox” on Tuesday night.
Knox explained that she has talked about it “like a fairy tale” so her daughter, Eureka — whom the 38-year-old shares with husband Christopher Robinson — can understand.
“Young girl goes off to have an adventure, a very bad thing happens, but ultimately she finds herself and makes it through, and then she comes home and marries Papa, and has a happy ending,” Knox shared.
She and Robinson also share a 2-year-old son.
Knox was a 20-year-old exchange student in Perugia, Italy, when her English-born roommate Meredith Kercher was brutally murdered in 2007.
Knox and her Italian then-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito were arrested for Kercher’s murder. Tabloids and newspapers breathlessly reported on Knox’s alleged sexual history and depravity.
Known burglar Rudy Guede was also arrested after his bloody fingerprints were found on Kercher’s possessions. (He was convicted of murder and released in November 2021.)
Knox and Sollecito were also found guilty and sentenced to over 20 years in prison.
After serving nearly four years, their convictions were overturned by the Italian Supreme Court of Cassation, and they were acquitted.
Knox said she believes Hulu’s new drama series on the ordeal has “many messages, one of which is that trauma doesn’t define you … you can still move forward and make sense of it.”
The “Waiting to be Heard” author also thinks the show is “about building bridges.”
“It’s about confronting what haunts us and finding a way forward that allows all of the humanity for everyone involved,” she explained.
Hulu is currently streaming the eight-part series, which stars Grace Van Patten as Knox.
