The Minnesota Vikings are in a bit of a pickle at the wide receiver position right now. Jordan Addison will be sidelined for the first three games of the regular season due to a suspension, and Justin Jefferson’s status is up in the air as a result of a hamstring injury.

Suddenly, the Vikings have gone from having one of the most loaded receiving corps in all of football to being very thin at the position, which creates an even bigger problem now that J.J. McCarthy — who has yet to play in a regular-season game — will be under center this year.

But apparently, Minnesota is looking into potential solutions. Tom Pelissero of NFL media has reported that the Vikings are “seriously exploring” a wide receiver trade and are specifically looking for veteran receivers.

Pelissero added that Jefferson is “on track” to play in Week 1, but Addison obviously won’t be on the field, and Jefferson is still a question mark.

In the event that Jefferson can’t go for the season opener, Minnesota would be left with Jalen Nailor as its No. 1 receiver, and as impressive as Nailor has been as an auxiliary option, he isn’t a top guy.

The question is, who can the Vikings actually trade for at this point? Will there be any suitable wide receivers available for them?

Minnesota almost certainly won’t be making a move for someone like Tyreek Hill, and Terry McLaurin is also probably out of the question.

Perhaps the Vikings would best be served signing Amari Cooper, who remains available in free agency after a lackluster 2024 campaign. Remember, though: he is just two seasons removed from hauling in 72 receptions for 1,250 yards and five touchdowns with the Cleveland Browns.

The Vikings — who went 14-3 last year — will face the Chicago Bears to open their 2025 campaign on Sept. 8 in a Monday night game.
