Las Vegas Raiders fans did not have a whole lot to be excited about last season, but there were a few bright spots in the midst of the Raiders’ 5-12 campaign.

We all know about tight end Brock Bowers, and wide receiver Jakobi Meyers posted the first 1,000-yard season of his career. But there was another weapon that emerged last in the year: running back Sincere McCormick.

As a whole, Las Vegas’ rushing attack was an abject disaster in 2024. Zamir White was a massive disappointment, and Alexander Mattison led the team with just 420 yards on the ground. But McCormick showed some serious promise during the second half, particularly in a three-game stretch between Weeks 12 and 14 when he registered 175 yards on 32 carries, good for a 5.5 rushing average.

McCormick was then knocked out for the remainder of the campaign after suffering an injury in Week 15, but not before making a serious impression on Raiders fans.

Well, Tashan Reed of The Athletic does not seem to think McCormick’s impression was as equally effective on Las Vegas’ organization, as he is predicting the Raiders to cut ties with the 24-year-old before the regular season. More specifically, Reed has McCormick losing out to Dylan Laube.

“I gave Laube the edge over McCormick for the fourth spot because he has greater special-teams value,” Reed wrote.

It’s entirely possible that McCormick was just a flash in the pan last year, but it’s also difficult to ignore just how good he looked during that three-game stretch. He also enjoyed a terrific collegiate career at UTSA, racking up over 1,400 yards in back-to-back campaigns to end his NCAA tenure.

The Raiders drafted Ashton Jeanty and signed Raheem Mostert in free agency, which will certainly make it difficult for McCormick to get serious touches in 2025. But keeping him off the roster entirely might be a mistake for Las Vegas.
