CULLMAN, Ala. (WIAT) — A Cullman woman was arrested on 25 charges in connection to a forged prescription and drug trafficking case Saturday.

According to the Cullman Police Department, it learned Aug. 5 that a series of forged prescriptions were written and filled at local pharmacies. The prescriptions were for different medications, including controlled narcotics, Cullman police stated.

An investigation led to police obtaining a search warrant for Infusion Wellness and Spa. Key evidence was collected from the business Monday, according to police.

Arrest warrants were issued Friday for 33-year-old Whitney LeAnn Cheatham. She turned herself in to Cullman police around 10:15 a.m. Saturday. Cheatham is facing the following charges:

  • Three counts of drug trafficking
  • One count of criminal conspiracy to commit drug trafficking
  • One count of attempted drug trafficking
  • Six counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance
  • One count of attempted unlawful distribution of a controlled substance
  • One count of criminal conspiracy to unlawfully distribute controlled substances
  • One count of practicing medicine without a license
  • 11 counts of fourth-degree forgery

Cullman police stated more charges and arrests may be announced as the investigation continues.

“I can confirm that my office approved warrants for drug trafficking and a host of other charges for the arrest of Whitney L. Cheatham,” Cullman County Districty Attorney Champ Crocker said in a statement. “These charges stem from the illegal procurement of controlled substances through forged prescriptions originating from Ms. Cheatham’s business. I want to thank the local pharmacies that assisted law enforcement, as well as the Cullman Police Department for their outstanding work. While an arrest has been made, this investigation is still ongoing.”
