Law enforcement officers were shot in Tremonton, Utah, as they responded to an incident.
Brigham City Police Department’s Detective Crystal Beck confirmed to ABC4 that three officers were injured in a shooting as they responded to a disturbance call at 700 North 200 East, and were taken to the hospital for treatment.
The shooting suspect was detained and is now in the Box Elder County Jail, the report said. The conditions of the officers involved are unknown.
The officers involved are from the Tremonton Police Department and Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office, KUTV reported.
Newsweek has contacted city and police officials from the Tremonton Police Department and Box Elder County for comment.
Tremonton Mayor Lyle Holmgren posted a statement to Facebook that was later deleted saying two of the officers involved had died.
KSL TV reporter Alex Cabrero later posted to X that he had subsequently spoken with the mayor, who said he could not confirm anything because the scene was active.
“Awful news coming out of Box Elder County tonight,” Utah County Commissioner Skyler Beltran posted to X. “Multiple Tremonton police officers have been lost in a senseless shooting. God bless our neighbors in Box Elder County.”
