Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide detectives are investigating the early-morning shooting death of a man in an unincorporated area of East Los Angeles.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:24 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025, when deputies from the East Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of gunfire in the 5100 block of Whittier Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers found three male victims in an alley north of the reported location.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department pronounced one of the victims, a 56-year-old Hispanic man, dead at the scene. Two other male Hispanic adults were transported to a local hospital with gunshot wounds to their legs and are reported to be in stable condition, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Investigators said the victims were living in tents in the alley at the time of the shooting. The shooter reportedly fired from Woods Avenue and then fled in an unknown direction. No suspect has been identified, and the investigation is ongoing.
