The Miami Dolphins continued their preseason road trip with joint practices on Wednesday and Thursday against the Detroit Lions.

According to multiple reports, including Colton Pouncy of The Athletic, the Lions dominated Wednesday’s practice.

But this did not deter the Dolphins from responding on Thursday with a strong showing of their own. Dolphins insider Travis Wingfield reported that Dolphins center Aaron Brewer said, “It felt like we dominated.”

The Dolphins have seemed not to let prior performances affect their current demeanor. Wingfield reported that Dolphins edge rusher Bradley Chubb told the media that “the team gathered themselves and played Dolphins football.”

That’s not to say the Lions didn’t do anything well in the session.

According to multiple reports on Wednesday, Amon Ra St. Brown ripped the depleted Dolphins’ secondary apart. But he did not have the same day Thursday despite comments from Wingfield saying that quarterback Jared Goff and St. Brown’s connection was already in midseason form.

Both teams are set for an off day Friday before matching up on Saturday for their preseason matchup. Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel does not have intentions of playing his starters in the game, according to Dante Collinelli of Sports Illustrated. The Dolphins’ starters could return for their final preseason matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

This is a welcome sight for Dolphins fans, as many had concerns about being dominated in a joint practice with one of the best teams in the league.
