The Floor is heading to ITV.
The popular Dutch gameshow, which is hosted by Rob Lowe in the U.S., has landed its 25th edition in the UK.
In The Floor, 81 quiz fanatics face off in quiz duels on a giant LED floor divided into 81 equal squares, each representing its own field of knowledge. The goal is to conquer the entire floor and take home a huge cash prize. The rules are simple – a random contestant challenges an adjoining opponent in a quiz duel. They play against each other in the category of the opponent’s square. After 10 episodes, one person is left standing to take home a cash prize.
The show was created by formats guru John de Mol and his Talpa Studios and will be produced in the UK by ITV Studios-backed South Shore. Airing next year, it will be produced from The Floor’s hub in the Netherlands.
Katie Rawcliffe, Director of Entertainment, Reality & Daytime Commissioning ITV, said: “The Floor, with its compelling game play, is an excellent addition to our roster of existing popular quiz shows across ITV and ITVX.”
The show is now in 25 territories. In the U.S., it has aired on Fox since last year and was recently renewed.
