Alicia Silverstone is set to reprise her role as Cher Horowitz in a Clueless reboot in the works at Peacock.
In a new interview, Silverstone talked about her excitement about playing the character over 30 years later.
“I can’t wait to step back into Cher’s skin and her fancy designer shoes that will be gently used, of course, duh, because she’s evolved,” she said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. “This is 2025, she’s not wearing the new stuff unless it’s sustainable or vegan. We’ll have to see how far we can go with that.”
As far as the development of the series, Silverstone said, “It’s very early stages. I’m obviously excited. I never thought that, that was something that I would ever do because I wouldn’t wanna mess up this thing that we all love so much. We will do our very best to honor the original movie that we love and also bring something new to it. That’s the goal, and I believe we will execute that goal.”
In April, Deadline reported that a Clueless TV series was being developed for Peacock with Silverstone attached to star and executive produce. The series is set to be written and executive produced by the Gossip Girl and The OC duo Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage of Fake Empire and Dollface creator Jordan Weiss, with the 1995 movie’s writer-director Amy Heckerling and producer Robert Lawrence also executive producing.
The Clueless movie is a loose adaptation of Jane Austen’s 1815 novel Emma, and chronicles the life of Cher Horowitz, a stylish, wealthy, and popular Beverly Hills girl who attends Bronson Alcott High.
