A 48-year-old man in Big Bear City has been arrested for running what investigators describe as an illegal mushroom sales operation out of a store in the popular tourist destination.

In a news release, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said concerned citizens began alerting investigators at the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station of the alleged illegal operation being run out of a shop in the 40700 block of Village Drive.

On Aug. 9, after obtaining a search warrant for the unidentified store, deputies contacted the shop owner, identified as Christopher Tindall, who was found to be in possession of approximately three ounces of psilocybin mushrooms for the purpose of sale, according to the release.

The 48-year-old was arrested and faces a felony charge for reportedly violating health and safety codes and the sale of illegal mushrooms.

He was booked into custody at the Big Bear Jail, though he was later released on bail. Tindall was expected to appear at the San Bernardino County Superior Court this morning.

Anyone with information regarding the ongoing investigation is encouraged to contact investigators at the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station at 909-866-0100. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call the WeTip Hotline at 800-78-CRIME or leave tips online at www.wetip.com.
