In a teaser clip (that’s noticeably 13 seconds long, which, as her fans know, is the most important number in Swiftie fandom) from Jason and Travis Kelce’s podcast New Heights, Swift drops some major news: Beyond the fact she is the brothers’ newest guest on the pod, she presents a mint green briefcase with orange letters and pulls out the cover of her new album, The Life of a Showgirl—a.k.a., TS12.
Glamour’s staff is full of Swifties, so we immediately dissected every part of the teaser video. One thing we couldn’t help but notice? Orange seems to be the color for this new era, as shown by Swift’s matte lip. Which leads us to the important question: What lipstick is Swift wearing in The Life of a Showgirl album announcement?

If we know one thing about the singer, it’s that she and her team plan every step of an album launch to a tee, with plenty of seemingly innocuous Easter eggs along the way. So while some may call the Swifties crazy, all the hints have taught her fans to analyze every detail, all the way down to her lipstick color.

In this case, her choice in lipstick is pretty simple and straightforward: Swift is wearing an orange lipstick with a velvety matte finish to match her upcoming album. Based on the orange lettering on the briefcase and her new green and orange Instagram profile picture, these two colors will be taking center stage on The Life of a Showgirl.
The day before the New Heights clip was shared Taylor Nation, which is Swift’s official social media team, posted a carousel of photos of the singer wearing orange (including one photo with Sabrina Carpenter, causing fans to wonder if Carpenter will be featured on the new album, but that’s beside the point right now), so the color orange is really the main theme here.

Orange lipstick can be difficult to pull off, but Swift makes it work perfectly. Paired with a simple black winged liner, her go-to eye look, her muted shade is a perfect transitional color as we head from summer into fall. But what exact lipstick is Swift wearing? She hasn’t shared, but we did some digging, and based on our detective work, we think she’s opted for Nars Lipstick in Morocco, which is available either in a lipstick bullet or liquid formula.

Why, you ask? Here’s what we’ve deduced. In October 2024 (more about October later), Swift’s makeup artist Lorrie Turk shared that Swift wore that exact shade of the Nars lipstick to the VMAs and to a Kansas City Chiefs game, which were both in September 2024. In her Instagram Stories, Turk wrote that “so many people” were “asking about this lipstick that Taylor wears all the time,” adding that “she’s worn it for years.”
So not only is it one of Swift’s go-to lipstick shades, but Morocco is also described on Nars’s website as a “matte warm cinnamon,” which translates to a warm-toned, toasted orange color. In photos, it looks seems to be a pretty close match to what we see on her lips in the New Heights clip. Stock up on the lipstick now, because, knowing her fan base, it could very well sell out before you know it.

The orange lipstick is an interesting departure for Swift, who tends to opt for red. She famously wore Pat McGrath Labs Liquilust Legendary Wear Matte Lipstick in shade Elson 4, a vivid blue-red shade, in her “Bejeweled” music video. After perusing Pat McGrath Labs’ shade library, we’re thinking Swift’s orange lips probably aren’t coming from this brand. But, in case the Nars lipstick isn’t the correct product, MAC Cosmetics MACximal Silky Matte Lipstick in Marrakesh and Makeup by Mario Ultra Suede Lipstick in Cam look like close matches as well. Does she just like this lipstick shade, or has she been dropping the tiniest of hints that this orange album would be coming eventually? Honestly, we can’t be sure. And speaking of Easter eggs (and circling back on October 2024), she initially teased fans back on October 18, 2024, when she posted a clip to Instagram of her wearing a yellow-orange sweatshirt while standing in section A12 of the Miami Hard Rock Stadium before one of her shows.
(For anyone who’s lost, fans are now looking back and think section A12 was a hint to August 12, the day the clip announcing her new album was shared, and the sweatshirt color choice was intentional.) If you’re wondering if she wore any orange during the Miami shows themselves, the answer is, of course, yes.
