Out of the many stars confirmed to appear in next year’s event movie “Avengers: Doomsday,” Ryan Reynolds‘ isn’t among them. But the “Deadpool & Wolverine” star’s social media may have you thinking otherwise.
Early Monday morning, Reynolds posted an image to his official Instagram page of a white Avengers logo. A red anarchy symbol was drawn over the superhero team’s logo. You can see the post below.
The cryptic post was put up without any accompanying caption, leaving fans to speculate on exactly what it means.

Not long after the names of the “Avengers: Doomsday” cast were revealed, Kevin Feige indicated there were more names likely to be added to the list.
Considering how prominently the multiverse will factor into the “Doomsday” story and how much it revolved around last year’s “Deadpool & Wolverine,” Reynolds Merc with a Mouth would seem like a natural fit.
It’s also possible Reynolds’ post refers not to “Doomsday,” but to the 2027 follow-up “Avengers: Secret Wars.” It would not be unlike the Russo brothers to save some of the Marvel heroes for the second film.
Fans will remember both Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man and Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye were absent from 2018’s “Avengers: Infinity War,” but both proved pivotal to the 2019 follow-up “Avengers: Endgame.”
If Reynolds does show up in either “Doomsday” or “Secret Wars,” it could be the last time fans see Deadpool for a while. A recent report from Variety claimed that Marvel sees projects like “Deadpool 4” and “Blade” as low priorities.
The report is surprising considering the success of 2024’s “Deadpool & Wolverine.” The film pulled in $1.3 billion globally, giving Marvel the kinds of numbers it hasn’t seen in a while, and is unlikely to see with “The Fantastic Four: First Steps.”
“Avengers: Doomsday” is scheduled to hit theaters December 18, 2026. It is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo. The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Wyatt Russell, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Kelsey Grammer, Lewis Pullman, Danny Ramirez, Joseph Quinn, David Harbour, Winston Duke, Hannah John-Kamen, Tom Hiddleston, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal, and Robert Downey Jr.
