HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — It has been a picture-perfect summer weekend across the area with temperatures hovering at 90 degrees and limited cloud cover. As we head into the upcoming week, rain chances will increase along with the humidity.
On Monday, showers will be isolated in coverage before becoming more widespread later in the week. The chance for widely scattered showers and storms will increase beginning Tuesday and continue through Thursday.
Storms that can develop this week will be capable of producing wind gusts over 40 mph, locally heavy rainfall, and frequent cloud-to-ground lightning.
Temperatures will hover in the upper 80s to nearly 90 degrees through midweek. Temperatures will steadily warm into the low 90s late week into the weekend. Though the air temperatures will stay below or just hit 90 degrees on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, the high humidity will make it feel warmer than that.
Dew points are forecast to rise into the low 70s, making it feel uncomfortable. Temperatures will feel more like the mid to upper 90s at times this week due to the high humidity. Make sure you drink plenty of water and practice heat safety.
