On Sunday night, the Philadelphia Eagles held an open practice at the team’s home stadium in South Philly. A massive crowd of fans witnessed a major injury scare, as the Eagles’ starting lineman Landon Dickerson went down with an apparent lower-body setback.

According to reports, Dickerson was down for a bit and receiving medical attention from the training staff. He was able to get up walk off the field with assistance. Unfortunately, Dickerson couldn’t get back to the locker room on his own power.

via @Jeff_McLane: Landon Dickerson is up after some time down, and has to be helped off the field. He’s favoring his right leg.

Looks like Landon Dickerson will be carted indoors. Reaction from a few other players, including Lane Johnson, not great. Jordan Mailata hanging near Dickerson.

Anytime the cart has to come out for a player is a bad sign. However, it’s not always the worst-case scenario. As the NFL is still in the early stages of the preseason, teams tend to be extremely cautious with players and never want to risk further injury before they can get fully checked out.

Since Dickerson was having trouble putting all of his weight on his one side, it made sense to have the offensive lineman carted back to the locker room at the stadium.

Obviously, a high level of concern will remain as long as Dickerson’s diagnosis is unknown. He is a major part of the Eagles’ offense and it’s been that way since he landed on the team.

In 2016, Dickerson fired up his college career at Florida State. He ended up at Alabama for the final two seasons of his run in the NCAA. The 2020 National Champion entered the NFL Draft in 2021 and was selected in the second round by the Eagles with the 37th overall pick.

In his first season with the team, Dickerson started 13 out of the 14 games he played. Since then, he’s been a full-time starter for the Eagles. By his second season, he was named a Pro Bowl candidate. After the 2024 NFL season, Dickerson has been recognized as a three-time Pro Bowler in four seasons. He was a major part of the Eagles’ Super Bowl success last year.
