The Indianapolis Colts are still trying to figure out who their starting quarterback is going to be for the 2025 season. Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones are competing for the job, with no clear winner known at this point.
In the team’s first preseason game of the year against the Baltimore Ravens, Richardson received the start. However, he was hit hard on a sack early in the game and was forced out due to a dislocated pinky finger on his throwing hand.
Richardson is fighting for his job, but he could be fighting for his NFL career as well.
After being selected by the Colts with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Richardson has not been able to stay on the field. He has dealt with multiple injury issues throughout his career already.

When he has been on the field, the results have not been great.
Since being drafted, Richardson has played in just 15 games. He has completed 50.6 percent of his pass attempts for 2,391 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions. Richardson has also run for 635 yards and 10 scores.
Clearly, those are not the numbers Indianapolis was expecting from him. If he puts together another bad season or doesn’t win the starting job to begin the year, it seems plausible that the Colts could choose to move on from him.
One notable sports analyst has spoken out with a shocking bad prediction for Richardson’s career.
Jason McIntyre of FS1 believes that Richardson could soon find himself playing in the Canadian Football League.
“You better get your Canadian passport because you’re gonna be playing in the CFL pretty soon. That’s the negative side of Anthony Richardson,” McIntyre said.

That might be a bit of a rushed prediction. Even if Richardson doesn’t work out with Indianapolis, it would not be surprising to see another NFL team take a gamble on him. His natural physical ability alone could keep him around for a few more years.
With that being said, he will quickly run out of chances if he doesn’t develop. So far, he has not shown the ability to develop much.
It will be interesting to see what the next two preseason games look like for the young quarterback. Richardson has to figure out a way to take a huge leap in his third NFL season. Should he be unable to do so, his future could look much different and not in a good way.
