The Chicago Bulls entered the 2025 NBA offseason with the hope of retaining restricted free agent guard Josh Giddey. While the goal was to keep him in town, no deal has gotten done to this point.

Giddey remains a restricted free agent. He has engaged in contract discussions with the Bulls, but the two sides have been unable to get an agreement done.

Recently, there have been reports about other teams having interest in Giddey. One of those teams is reportedly the Golden State Warriors.

Where do things stand between Chicago and Giddey? A new update has been shared with that information.

Right now, the Bulls have made a solid offer to the young guard, but it is not what Giddey is looking to receive. There is still a fairly large gap between the two parties.

Jake Fischer, an NBA insider, recently shared the new update.

“League sources say that the Bulls made an offer of $80 million over four years to restricted free agent Josh Giddey when the offseason commenced on June 30,” Fischer wrote. “Giddey, of course, is seeking an annual salary in the $30 million range. Chicago has been anchored in the $20 million range in annual value ever since its original offer.”

In connection to the rumors with the Warriors, Chicago could work out some kind of a sign-and-trade that would land them Jonathan Kuminga. Golden State has been going through a similar situation with Kuminga.

Giddey is coming off of the best season of his career with the Bulls in 2024-25. He played in 70 games and made 69 starts, averaging 14.6 points per game to go along with 8.1 rebounds, 7.2 assists, and 1.2 steals. In addition, he shot 46.5 percent from the floor and 37.8 percent from the three-point line.

At just 22 years old, Giddey is just getting started in his NBA career. There is still plenty of room for him to continue improving and developing his game.

Chicago would likely still prefer to keep him in town. The two sides will keep discussing a deal, but being $10 million apart can be difficult to bridge the gap.

Expect to continue hearing more about the Bulls and Giddey. If the two sides are unable to make progress on a new deal, a sign-and-trade could become much more likely.
