PHOENIX — Maricopa County has launched a free, online professional skills course for its residents.

The new “Workforce 2 You” program is a self-paced online class consisting of five modules:

  • Communication and Empathy
  • Professionalism and Collaboration
  • Initiative
  • Critical Thinking and Problem Solving
  • Self-Directed Learning and Resilience

Students who pass the final exam with a score of 80% or higher and complete the course will earn the Workforce Professional Skills Badge. This digital credential is designed to help residents gain new skills to find employment opportunities.

“Maricopa County is proud to invest in programs that strengthen our workforce and open doors for hardworking residents,” Thomas Galvin, chairman of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, District 2, said in a press release.

“When we equip people with the skills employers need, we’re not just empowering individuals—we’re making Maricopa County a competitive, attractive place for businesses to thrive. This no-cost program gives residents the skills to compete and succeed in a fast-changing job market, and it helps ensure Maricopa County remains a destination for opportunity and growth.”

The program is available to all Maricopa County residents, but in order to participate, students are required to register online as a non-credit student inside the 10-college system.

“This partnership allows us to continue doing what we do best — expanding access to educational opportunities for learners across Maricopa County,” Dr. Steven R. Gonzales, Maricopa Community Colleges Chancellor, said in a release. “As a regional leader in workforce development, our colleges offer the training and resources students need to thrive in today’s competitive job market.”
