The New York Jets made a lot of big moves in the offseason, headlined by changes at general manager, head coach and quarterback.

But New York made a handful of other smaller yet still impactful moves, including the addition of 25-year-old safety Andre Cisco.

Bleacher Report’s Brent Sobleski recently cited a report from Andrew Crane of the New York Post about Cisco’s play in training camp.

Per Crane of the New York Post, following one particular early-camp practice, “Cisco picked off Tyrod Taylor in the end zone on the final play of practice after the offense marched down the field during a two-minute drill. Cisco, who has eight career interceptions and signed a one-year deal with the Jets, also broke up a pass intended for tight end Mason Taylor in another team drill.”

Using this report, Sobleski labeled Cisco one of the biggest free agency steals of the offseason.

“And as Jets Nation notes, the 25-year-old has been mentioned quite a bit for his early impact plays,” Sobleski wrote. “And again, X backs that up. He’s got a chance to be a mega playmaker for Gang Green.”

The Jets needed to shore up their defense, and the addition of a young playmaker for less than $10 million is a huge addition.

After firing Robert Saleh last season, the Jets’ defense completely fell off a cliff. With the front office opting to hire Aaron Glenn, a notable defense mind, as the team’s new head coach, it’s clear they’re prioritizing defense.

Having Cisco on the backend is going to be a huge boost for the team. He has excellent coverage abilities and tremendous ball skills. The Jets are lucky to have landed him, but it would have been even better if they could have signed him to a longer contract.
