With Micah Parsons potentially hitting the trade block, every NFL team should at least do their due diligence.
Give the Dallas Cowboys a call, and see what it would take to pry the veteran edge rusher away from the team that spent a high first-round pick on him four years ago.
The Washington Commanders understand the situation the Cowboys are currently in. After all, their homegrown star, Terry McLaurin, just requested a trade as well. Could the two teams get on the phone and make a blockbuster swap?

NFL.com writer Eric Edholm recently laid out a list of potential landing spots for Parsons, leaving the Commanders as the final team to get a mention.
Although the Commanders were included, Edholm made it quite clear that the Commanders’ chances of landing Parsons are probably significantly lower than every other team mentioned.
“The odds of the Cowboys trading a generational defensive talent to an ascending team within the division, with Parsons hypothetically rejoining former Dallas defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, feel even lower than the chances of Parsons getting traded at all,” Edholm wrote.
“It’s almost certainly not happening. But that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t make major sense for the Commanders, who were aggressive this offseason but did not add a true, game-changing defender.”
The connections in favor of the trade make sense, but the factors against it do as well. The Cowboys are no longer one of the biggest contenders in the NFC East. These days, the Commanders and the Philadelphia Eagles are battling for a spot as the favorites to win the division title.
Sending an All-Pro pass rusher, who is entering his prime, to a direct rival isn’t exactly a great strategy for Dallas. While the idea of landing a wide receiver as consistent as Terry McLaurin might be a situation Dak Prescott would be interested in, the Cowboys recently invested some assets to acquire George Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Currently, the Cowboys don’t have intentions of trading away Parsons. When the franchise’s owner, Jerry Jones, addressed the media on Saturday night, he made it clear that there are no plans to honor Parsons’ request. The owner still wants to have Parsons around for the long run. Now, he just needs Parsons to change his mind and rescind the request.
