Pete Alonso Projected To Sign 4-Year, $110M Deal With NL Powerhouse

The New York Mets took a big risk in free agency last offseason when they let Pete Alonso test the market. Ultimately, it played in their favor as Alonso landed back in New York on a team-friendly deal.

Now, Alonso has the opportunity to opt out of his contract and reenter free agency at the end of the campaign. With Alonso playing so well, it’s very likely that he’ll look to enter free agency again and chase a four- or five-year contract again.

Bleacher Report’s Kerry Miller recently predicted that Alonso would sign a four-year, $110 million deal to stay with the Mets in the offseason.

“Of course, the Mets will also be highly motivated to keep their homegrown star,” Miller wrote. “They were willing to play a dangerous game of ‘Chicken’ with Alonso during the winter, back when they thought (correctly) that no one would make him a massive offer and perhaps thought (incorrectly) that Mark Vientos would suffice as the everyday first baseman if they were unable to bring Alonso back.

“Between Alonso faring better in 2025 than he did in 2024 and Vientos taking a gigantic step backward, the Mets may well be willing to increase the length of their offer, even though he’s now a year older.”

The Mets took a risk with Alonso last year, and they’ve benefited in a big way with Alonso’s production. Alonso has played in each of the Mets’ 112 games entering Monday, hitting 24 home runs and driving in 86 runs with an a .854 OPS that is 66 points higher than it was a year ago.

With the slugger expected to opt out of his contract, he’ll seemingly be unlikely to take another short-term deal with opt-outs. A four-year deal worth over $100 million seems to fit very well, and it’s unlikely the Mets will let him head elsewhere.
