The Location Managers Guild International has pinpointed the recipient of its 2025 Eva Monley Award: Kevin Costner.

The two-time Oscar winner will be feted August 23 during the 12th annual LMGI Awards at the Eli and Edythe Broad Stage in Santa Monica.

The Eva Monley Award is given to an individual who has made an extraordinary contribution to the art and craft of filmmaking through their commitment to the use of real locations.

Costner’s long screen career in Hollywood ranges from starring roles in 1980s films Silverado, The Untouchables, No Way Out and Field of Dreams through Bull Durham, JFK, Waterworld, Thirteen Days, 3000 Miles to Graceland, The Postman, Wyatt Earp, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Draft Day and last year’s multi-part Horizon: An American Saga. He also starred as John Dutton in the smash Taylor Sheridan drama series Yellowstone and has dozens of producer credits.

“Kevin Costner has long understood that locations are more than scenery — they are storytelling tools that shape the emotional and visual language of a film,” LMGI President John Rakich said in a statement. “His commitment to authenticity and his deep respect for the craft makes him a perfect recipient of the Eva Monley Award. We’re honored to celebrate his legacy and his ongoing contributions to the art of filmmaking.”

Along with his two Best Picture and Best Director Oscars for 1990’s Dances with Wolves, Costner won an Emmy for his lead role in 2012’s Hatfields & McCoys and also has picked up hardware from the Producers Guild, DGA, SAG Awards, Golden Globes, National Board of Review, People’s Choice Awards and myriad guilds, film festivals and critics groups.

LMGI said last week that Ilt Jones, who worked on Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, The Dark Knight Rises and the Transformers franchise, will receive its 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award.

The LMGI Awards honor the outstanding and creative contributions of location professionals in film, TV, commercials and film commissions from around the world and celebrate the art and craft of location scouting and management. Last year’s winners included Oppenheimer, Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning, Fallout, Fargo and Ripley.
